We are aware that farming a good coffee is a long road activity and it demands a lot of dedication. In Mexico, every coffee region develops a unique and exceptional bean. Altitudes, soils, and different microclimates contribute to provide a wide range of flavors and aromas. The main coffee producing states are Chiapas, Veracruz, Puebla, and Oaxaca.
Special brands
Mexico is considered a mega diverse country in different aspects. This enables the development of a worldwide competitive agriculture, especially in coffee farming. The different topographies, altitudes, soils, and climates allow growing of arabica and robusta, the former being the predominant variety. The wealthy of mountain chains that cross our country form different environments that are essential to develop an exceptional coffee quality.
The coffee that grows with the special particularities, we consider it as Specialty coffee. Therefore, every specialty coffee has its own cup profile, brand, history, and origin where our Mexican mother nature provides this gift to the world.
Sustainable seals
Our extension officers work in different coffee regions in Mexico in order to provide technical assistance and services to coffee farmers. Part of the services that we provide to our suppliers includes learning techniques to meet standards and the integration to new verifications and certifications so that farmers can receive an added value for their product and their effort.
Through third party international service entities, we offer a variety of sustainable and eco-friendly seals.
Por Mas Cafe
Coffee production in Mexico was hardly devastated by coffee rust; production decreased 70% of domestic production. In addition, advanced age of coffee plantations, limited access to financing, variable and extreme weather conditions, plus a hope of finding new opportunities in the cities, is making coffee farmers, especially young people, more likely to end their family traditions and be the first generation to walk away from coffee.
For this reason, in 2014, Exportadora de Café California decided to create and implement a holistic model of economic and social development through a smallholder farmer-centric approach, who conform 90% of national coffee production, named: Por más café. Since then, through Por más café Program, Mexican coffee farmers have access to a bundle of services to ensure a sustainable future for coffee and the livelihoods of thousands of farmers in years to come. The vision of the program is to reposition the production of this bean as the main driver of the social economy in the coffee regions in Mexico.
